BEING COMPLETELY SURRENDERED
By Brianna Villines
The Bible tells us that God seeks those who long to worship Him. If you think about it, worship is like embracing God. It’s like giving Him a huge hug and saying, “Here, God, take my life, keep me in Your arms. I need Your everlasting grace, I need Your embrace, I need the love You freely give.”
God is searching for people who desire to worship Him, people willing to give up their lives, to be a sacrifice, and surrender their will completely to Him. Sound like a lot? It is. Jesus didn’t say, “Hey, you wanna follow me? No problem! All you have to do is pray and go to church and you’re set to go!” He actually said it’s easier for a huge camel with two full humps and a long neck to walk through the eye of a small needle than for a man to enter God’s kingdom. But He also said that that’s the reason on why he came to earth – to provide a way. To make the impossible, possible. If He would have made it easy, we wouldn’t have to prove our love to Him. He made the believing part simple – all we have to do is accept and believe that He died and rose again.
But the other thing we have to do is completely commit ourselves to Him, and that can be hard! But that’s what brings a challenge to us. It’s something that we all need to work on and do our best to achieve. We can only achieve it through Him. We have to completely surrender and let Him take over. He’s going to bless us if we just open our lives to Him and say, “Ok God, I’m yours.” And even though it’s never going to be easy, He will reward and bless us. Sure, the greatest blessing we’ll ever receive is eternal life, but while we’re on earth, He’ll bestow His love, grace, and mercy on us.
In Romans 8:38-39, it says, “For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from His love. Death can't, life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” How amazing is that? That’s a promise that He will always keep. Even if we mess up and sin, it cannot keep us from God’s wonderful love.
So when you’re worshiping God, rest in His embrace, think about His awesomeness and just check your life – are you completely surrendered?
